Inspection and Assessment

We start by thoroughly inspecting and assessing your plantscaping and property to identify potential rodent entry points, nesting sites, and areas that require special attention. This step is crucial for developing a customized deterrent strategy tailored to your specific needs.

Canine rodent abatement

We work closely with Unique Pest Management. Their NESDCA-certified teams inspect areas suspected of having rat issues to determine where rats are living, eating, and traveling. Specially trained dogs are deployed to assist in removing a rat population in an environmentally safe, effective, and humane way. This green service reduces the need for rodenticides and other chemical control methods.

During the initial walkthrough and assessment, we will point out your pain points and the likely causes of your infestation. It is critical that you follow that advice and change your building practices to ensure that you aren’t creating an inviting environment for rodents.

These practices include waste management policy, cleaning and building hygiene routines, proper training of your onsite staff, and coordination of traditional pest management services with continued canine services.

Canine rodent abatement is critical to our success. It helps drive the rats off of the property and then repeated services throughout, and following, the process ensures that any rodents that return to the property are harassed off the property by the dogs. When rodents are disturbed by a predator, they leave a fear pheromone in the soil, which advertises your property as a dangerous place to inhabit.

Soil Removal and Treatment

Rats communicate and attract each other through pheromones. When they occupy an area, they leave behind pheromones that signal the location as a favorable nesting and breeding space. So even if you drive them away, a new family may move in. To keep rodents at bay, we remove soil to a depth of 6-8 inches to eliminate any traces of pheromones.

Installation of Hardware Cloth

After we remove the pheromone-laden soil, we install hardware cloth, a durable metal mesh at 6-8 inches deep, to prevent unwanted guests from digging back into the area. This mesh is anchored to the concrete, and all seams are meticulously closed and staked up, creating a robust physical barrier.

Concrete and Steel Edging Installation

We will then install concrete around the perimeter of the landscaped area to block any potential burrowing at the edges. Our team installs steel edging around root-bound beds with large trees to support the addition of new, fresh soil.

This step is essential to reinforce the landscape’s integrity and rodent resistance. To maintain the beauty of your plantscaping, we often install ornamental steel edging on the inside of the beds.

Pheromone-Free Soil Addition

We add fresh, pheromone-free soil to replace the soil we remove. This new soil is perfect for plant growth and unattractive to rodents, helping prevent them from returning to the treated spot.
